OTAKU Series by Cecile Maxi ('23): A review of Demon Slayer

Unconditional Bond

If you have any siblings, you know that the bond you share with them is thicker than blood, even though sometimes it is hard to always be on good terms with them. In the anime Demon Slayer, the main characters, Tanjirou and Nezuko, are a perfect example of the unconditional love between brothers and sisters. Tanjirou is a young man who lost his family during a gruesome attack of demons. His sister, Nezuko, is alive but has been transformed into a demon. Normal demons feed on human blood, but Nezuko has resisted the desire to drink human blood or eat humans. During her unusual transformation, Tanjirou is certain that Nezuko could never hurt a human being. Driven by this belief, Tanjirou has trained every day over the years and become a demon slayer. The main reason why he becomes a demon slayer is to find an antidote that will transform Nezuko back into a human. Nezuko’s case is rare and uncommon but not as much as seeing a demon and a human partnering together to kill demons.

When it comes to the graphics, Demon Slayer is very unique, therefore the fights are more enjoyable and, allow me to spoil it for you a little, the fight in episode 19 is an absolute masterpiece that will leave you speechless. I watched Demon Slayer because I am always looking for something new to watch and it was really short with only 23 episodes. If you like short series, Demon Slayer is the perfect choice. Despite the fact that it is an unfinished anime, I give it an eight out of ten.
