"Billie Takes Madison Square" By Victoria Romão Nóbrega

That song that says “To be young and in love in NYC” couldn’t be more accurate. From amazing bars, restaurants, and museums to incredible performances, NYC has everything that we, young people in their early twenties, can dream about. On February 19th, two friends and I got to be part of this world.

First, we have to rewind a few weeks, to when we got the tickets. I remember it was a casual night, we were doing our homework, watching tv, just a normal Saturday night. Out of the blue, my roommate opens the door of my room and says to me, “Billie Eilish is doing a concert in Madison Square Garden on the 19th and we are going.” And that was the beginning. We called another friend and spent literally 30 minutes picking our spots and we decided to pick a sitting place, so we could enjoy the show and not be pushed by everyone. So for anyone wondering, we chose the 109 section row 16 seats 3,4, and 5. We were actually really close to the stage and we could see her perfectly and it was cheaper. The tickets came to 188 dollars tax included, per person.

On the day of the show, we got ready at home, with comfortable clothes and shoes because believe me when I say this: there is a lot of walking to do once you get to Madison Square.

The show started at 8 pm so we took the train at about 4:30 pm. We wanted to eat before going to the show because things onsite can get a little pricey. We stopped by Shake Shack and had some burgers and water before the show.

After that, we walked to Madison Square, we had our tickets on our phones, in addition to that we had to show our vaccination cards. Also, we went through a metal detector. Then we were free to walk around and find our seats. We decided to make a quick stop by the bathroom so we wouldn’t have to during the show.

At 8:20 a singer named Dora Jar came on. She was great and she did a really great kick-off show. Then we had to wait. And we waited about 40 minutes, and then it felt like magic. The song “Happier Than Ever” started to play. Finneas, Billie’s brother, went on stage with their drummer and they started to play. A hole opened on the floor and Billie Eilish jumped out of it. She is just as gorgeous in person as she is in the pictures. She started to sing “Bury a Friend” and the stadium went crazy!

The show was amazing, the vibe, and thousands of people chanting and singing the same songs were incredible! We sang, danced, took videos, and fell in love with the experience. She finished the show with “Happier Than Ever.” THAT was a perfect ending for the night!

After the show, we grabbed some donuts and found our way back home.

If you are willing to invest some bucks, have the time, and are interested in having an experience, I encourage you to grab your friends and go to a show. This is one for the books.
